ANN SHAW

The Children of Craig-y-Nos

“The Children of Craig-y-nos” by Ann Shaw and Carole Reeves
About: Forty years of lost Welsh history. This is the only account in the world of life inside a childrens TB sanatorium. Ann Shaw was there for four years from 1950-54.

Along with my co-author Carole Reeves we reconstructed forty years of lost Welsh history  - the story of life inside a children’s sanatorium, Craig-y-nos Castle, former home of opera diva Adelina Patti, in the Swansea valley.

Dr Carole Reeves (left) and Ann Shaw at the Medical Journalist Award Ceremony, The Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine, London.

Published by The Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine, University College London in 2009.

Short-listed for Medical Journalist Award 2010.
